Baw Baw Sustainability Network
Energise Gippsland is proudly partnered with the Baw Baw Sustainability Network (BBSN) to deliver practical assessments, advice and services to households and small businesses.
This service is great for people looking to improve new and old houses. It can also provide advice for renters, those thinking about building new homes and larger businesses who are seeking advice on where to start.
All the assessors are Scorecard Accredited by the Victorian Government and can provide a wide range of services.
Meet the Assessors:
Malcolm
Malcolm has been passionate about home energy efficiency since he was a teenager. As well as working in the home energy assessment field, he’s a part time GP at Yarragon Medical Centre.


Michele
Michele is a building designer, drafts-person and energy rater. She has been passionate about designing and building solar passive, energy efficient and comfortable homes for many years.
Rhys
Rhys has worked on energy efficiency projects for businesses in Melbourne and in regional Victoria. He is the recommended energy auditor for the Energy Innovation Co-operative in South Gippsland.

Frequently Asked Questions:
The typical Victorian household spends around $2,800 a year on gas and electricity. Studies have shown the average saving achieved with reasonable upgrades is $1,400 a year. Also in the Australian Capital Territory, where it is mandatory to display the energy efficiency of homes for sale or rent, for each extra star rating an extra 3% on the sale price is achieved.
You should allow around 3 hours for the assessment but it may be less or more than that depending on the size of your home.
Some assessments can now be done completely online over a video call and you will need to be home for this. If it is in person though you’ll need to be there at the start of the assessment and at the end to discuss the results. You are not required for the data collection part of the process if an assessor in coming to your house.
