Developers join together for ‘Offshore Wind Days’
Gippsland locals are invited to attend one of four information sessions being held in November to explore the next steps for the region’s proposed offshore wind projects.
Sessions at Seaspray, Foster, Traralgon and Yarram, a great opportunity for Gippsland residents and stakeholders to view the latest maps, seek answers, and to meet developer representatives.
The Gippsland Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) said the events are an opportunity to learn more about offshore wind energy, upcoming project plans, long-term opportunities and to share feedback.
Led by Gippsland Climate Change Network and Committee for Gippsland, the Alliance aims to provide a local platform for collaborative action to create an offshore wind industry that benefits Gippsland.
GOWA Co-Chair, Darren McCubbin encouraged the Gippsland community to get involved.
“It’s important to us that the community has a chance to have their voices heard, and these sessions are a perfect one-stop shop to get the information they need about the projects that interest them.”
“Gippsland is leading the way as Australia’s first offshore wind zone, and we have a range of developers looking to build projects here. By working together, we aim to ensure the success of this industry, as well as positive long-term benefits for the region.”
Government agencies VicGrid, Offshore Wind Energy Victoria and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water will also be attending to answer questions about transmission and energy plans.
